For most of us, a good portion of the bad decisions we made in our youth stemmed from that first Jell-O shot (which inevitably led to 14 more). Sigh. Those were the days. But as much as I miss those jiggly little cups of pure joy, I don’t miss making them. Between the sticky mess they’d leave behind and my “one for them, two for me” policy that never ended well, I had to start seeing other beverages. Lucky for us, Whole Foods is on a quest to reunite us with our first love, but in a grown-up way.
Soon, Whole Foods will sell pre-made Jell-O shots.

Ludlow’s Cocktail Company, the company Whole Foods is teaming up with to make our dreams come true, has created “speciality jelly shots” that are all-natural and come in fancy flavors—including Fresh Lime Margarita, Meyer Lemon Drop, Old Fashioned, Planter’s Punch, and the Moscow Mule. The shots are 15 percent alcohol, don’t require a fridge, and come in adorbs little Jell-O cup servings. Swoon.
“We recommend that people eat them with a spoon, especially because we’re adults now,” Freya Estreller, founder and CEO of Ludlow Cocktail Company, told the Huffington Post. (Though, I have a feeling that by the time I pick up the spoon I’ll have already sucked them up like a Shop Vac.)
The bad news: As of right now, the shots are only available in California at the Sherman Oaks West, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and Encinitas Whole Foods branches. So until further notice, we’re going to have to do our best to contain our jealousy toward everyone who lives in California right now.
The good news: Estreller told the Huffington Post that they’re expanding across the country, and hope to be available nationwide by 2017. Time to mark our calendars.
